Elizabeth Julia Prose
MEDIUM: handmade abaca paper, soy wax and cotton
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 10″ x 6 1/4″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: Lace like shards of bone, a paper document altered, sealed. A new identity is formed, grafted to the secrecy. Closed adoption severs the connection to blood and heritage. No one acknowledges the trauma of primal grief and loss. We are taught to be grateful. No one honors our ancestors.
