DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: This artifact is a deer hide nose prototype from the performance, Migration. On October 7, 2011 a group of fourteen performers, White Monarchs, wearing all white and deer masks began to migrate. Each performer walked from a different location around downtown Lincoln, Nebraska tracing their path with chalk. The destination was Drift Station, Lat. 40˚48’45.74”N | Long. 96˚41’44.02”W.41′. Slowly, the herd filtered into Drift Station. The White Monarchs stood upright and still until all of the herd arrived. After some time the performers evolved, unveiling their human visage.
