TITLE: Conditioned Response
DATE: 1990
MEDIUM: surface rolled etching plate printed on kozo fiber paper, tipped onto a multi run lithograph on Rives BFK
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 17 1/4″ x 20″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: This was inspired by Pavlov’s work in psychology, and conditioned responses to stimuli. We are trained to see what we want to see, what fits into our reality, and how we shape the world. At the time my work revolved around taking the image of an old dog of mine, Panda, and illustrating her into a variety of socio-political scenarios within the human condition: history, medicine, psychology, ethnography, science, biology, and here… astronomy.
