Diana Black

TITLE: Bones of the Earth
DATE: 2011
MEDIUM: digital collage, digital image and stones are from Lake Michigan, The Curly Maple frame from St. Vincent de Paul
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 12 1/2″ x 15 1/2″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: Water, Earth, Stones//Bones, Body, Blood. This work celebrates the power of the stone people, their vibration and their role as bones of the earth. People hold onto stones when they want to feel grounded. I see this action as a manifestation of the need to remember our connection to all of creation, to time before time, to ancestors, and especially our home that we call, Earth. We are all of the Earth, the Earth is all layers of all that lived before us. Earth sustains us and ultimately will reclaim us. So the circle goes.
