TITLE: Anatomy (Powell Point, Grand Canyon)
MEDIUM: oil on paper and ink on tracing velum
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 24″ x 26″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: Bones are the physical structure of the human body, and reveal the beauty of the body’s external form. I was recently an artist-in-residence at the Grand Canyon; to create my paintings and drawings I studied the geology of the canyon to understand its underlying form. This piece is a depiction of how I build the structure of a painting and an investigation of the forms that are the bones of the Grand Canyon that bring about its beauty.
