TITLE: Compression Fracture: Defying gravity/my best judgment doctors orders
MEDIUM: archival pigment print on high gloss film
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 35 1/2″ x 15 1/4″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: Self-portrait taken the day I got out of the hospital after breaking my back explicitly defying my neurologists orders by jumping as high as I could.
This work continues an interest in the use of photography to document performative acts of sculpture. In this work I reenact in a photography studio the act which led to my fracturing my thorasic spine (jumping off a bridge in rural Wisconsin) in two places immediately after I was released from the hospital defying my doctors orders to not do any high impact activities especially jumping.
