TITLE: Osteosarcomatous Tumor
MEDIUM: wood, brass, wax, sea sponge
DIMENSIONS/RUN TIME: 16″ x 4″ x 8″
DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT: This sculptural study of a femur with an osteosarcomatous tumor is an investigation of cancer’s ghostlike presence in the human body. Developing within bones, organs, and cells, these growths can remain invisible on the outer surface of the body, appearing only as pale, abnormal ghosts on CT scans. This raw depiction of the body afflicted questions cancer’s many forms and origins as well as its haunting presence in so many of our lives.
